Road Monitor

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

The short version Road Monitor has no accounts, analytics, advertising or cross-app tracking. Trips, speed measurements and location history stay on your device. If you choose Pro road alerts, our server receives an anonymous push token and your alert choices (the roads you watch, or all roads, the kinds of events and quiet hours) so it can send those alerts. Warnings about events on the road ahead are worked out on your device.

Road conditions and optional alerts

The Road conditions screen downloads public traffic events, derived from the Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency and from TomTom traffic data, from the Road Monitor server. The Road Monitor server fetches TomTom data itself; your device never contacts TomTom. The request does not include your trip, speed or precise location.

If you are a Pro user and turn on road alerts, Road Monitor sends the following to our server:

Warnings for the road ahead (Pro) compare the events on your device with your current position and direction of travel. That comparison happens on the iPhone; your location is not sent to our server.

This information is used only to match new road events and deliver the alerts you requested. It is not linked to an account, used for advertising, sold, or shared with data brokers.

Location data

The app requests access to your device's location in order to work. Location is processed on your device to determine your current speed and position relative to monitored zones.

You can grant or revoke location access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services on your iPhone. If you revoke access, the features that depend on your speed and position will not be able to function.

Purchases

Road Monitor Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. The app receives purchase status from StoreKit so it can unlock Pro features. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple's purchase and payment data is handled under Apple's Privacy Policy.

Analytics and tracking

The app contains no analytics frameworks, no crash-reporting services, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party software development kits that collect information about you. We do not track you across apps or websites.

Data storage and retention

Trips, speed measurements, location history and app settings are stored locally on your device. Removing the app deletes that local data.

Road-alert registration is removed from our server when you remove your last watched road or no longer have Pro. Inactive registrations are deleted after 90 days. Apple also tells the server when a push token is no longer valid, after which that registration is removed.

Children's privacy

Road Monitor is a driving utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated before that change is released, and the date at the top will be revised.
